Ryan Spears is a New York-based freelance editor and director who specializes in comedy projects. Recently he's worked as an Assistant Editor on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, and as an editor in the marketing departments of COMEDY CENTRAL and ABC NEWS. This year he also cut a television commercial spot, his first, for TAPOUT featuring John Cena.

Previously, Ryan spent the first six years of his career working for Broadway Video and Above Average. In his time there he contributed to a number of high profile projects including SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE and COMEDIANS IN CARS GETTING COFFEE. During his tenure at Above Average as a Post Production Supervisor he grew the department from one editor to four, and personally edited several viral and award winning series including HUDSON VALLEY BALLERS, ALEC BALDWIN’S LOVE RIDE, and SOUND ADVICE staring Vanessa Bayer.

Ryan directed and edited the web series COUCH HOUSE - an official selection of the 2015 New York Television Festival - and has directed sketches for sketch groups Stevedore Comedy, The Hubbies, standup Marcia Belsky, and performer Livia Scott. Ryan has a BFA from the Kanbar Institute of Film & Television at New York University.
